The only official website to apply for ETIAS is travel-europe.europa.eu (and its official app). It costs €20. ETIAS isn't running today, so any site charging you to "process" it now is a middleman or a scam.
How to recognize the official site
- The domain ends in europa.eu: travel-europe.europa.eu.
- The fee is €20, with no "service fees".
- No promises of "guaranteed approval" or "rush processing".
Red flags
- They ask you to pay today, while ETIAS isn't running.
- Prices of $40, $70 or $100 for "processing".
- Domains with "etias" in them that aren't europa.eu.
- They ask for their own email instead of yours.
Note: etiasfaq isn't official either. We're an information guide: we don't process anything or charge for ETIAS.
If you've already paid an unofficial site
- Keep evidence: emails, receipts and screenshots.
- Contact your bank to dispute the charge.
- If they asked for your passport details, keep an eye out for misuse and consider reporting it to the police.
Intermediaries: legal, but read the small print
The EU allows travel agencies and other intermediaries to apply for you, as long as you authorise them and both of you sign a declaration of representation. They collect your data and file it on the official site, charging their own fee on top of the €20. The EU's advice: check their reputation, the total price and how they protect your data, and make sure you have access to the email address used in the application, since all official messages go there.
Phishing emails and fake apps
- The official app is published by the EU: check the developer name before downloading.
- Official emails never ask you to pay again to "unlock" or "speed up" your ETIAS.
- Never enter your card details from a link in an unexpected email or text message; go to travel-europe.europa.eu yourself.
Frequently asked questions
Are any websites authorized to process ETIAS?
Agencies can apply on your behalf if you authorize them, but they charge on top of the official €20. The Commission itself advises checking their fees and how they protect your data.
Is the official app out yet?
The Commission says that once ETIAS launches you'll be able to apply on the official website or the official ETIAS app. The Travel to Europe app is for the EES. Explained here.
Is etias.com the official ETIAS website?
No. The only official website is travel-europe.europa.eu (plus the official app). Other sites are independent, including this one.
