The official ETIAS form asks for personal details, passport details, education and job, your first destination and a few security questions (serious convictions, conflict zones and removal orders). It takes about 10 minutes, online only, on the official website or app. It isn't available yet.
What it asks
| Section | What they ask |
|---|---|
| Personal details | Full name, date and place of birth, sex, nationalities, home address, email and phone. |
| Family | Your parents' first names. |
| Passport | Number, issuing country, issue and expiry dates. |
| Education and job | Level of education and current occupation. |
| Trip | The first country you'll stay in and the address. |
| Security | Serious criminal convictions, travel to war or conflict zones and whether you've recently been ordered to leave a country. |
| EU family member | Only if you apply as a family member: their details and your relationship. |
The security questions
These cause the most worry. They cover serious crimes from a specific list (terrorism, human trafficking, drug trafficking, murder, rape and so on) within recent years, not every fine. We explain them in detail in ETIAS and criminal records.
Always tell the truth. A false answer is grounds for refusal or for your ETIAS being annulled later, even while you're already in Europe.
What if my plans aren't final?
You need to name the first country you plan to stay in, but once approved you can change plans and visit any of the 30 countries.
Languages and alphabet
The form will be available in the 24 official EU languages plus Norwegian and Icelandic. Whatever language you choose, the data must be typed in the Latin alphabet, exactly as in the machine-readable zone of your passport.
Made a mistake after submitting?
You are responsible for the data, and mistakes can lead to refusal, revocation or problems at the border. The fastest fix is to submit a new application reusing your old data and correcting the error, which is also what to do if you need to change your email, nationality, passport number or name. For a small typo you can request a correction instead, but it may take up to 30 days.
If someone fills it in for you
The person or agency must give their name, organisation and contact details, their relationship to you, and confirm that you both signed the declaration of representation.
